I love my life. I love my job. I love that I live only 45 minutes away from my parents and sisters and nieces and nephew and Granny. I love that we are going to start looking for a new house soon. I love that I have a reliable vehicle to get me to and from places. I love that my children go to a good school. I love that their teachers are good teachers who care about them. I love that all breakfasts and lunches at my kids' school are free. I love that I have direct deposit. I love my children, all five of them, more and more each and every day. I love that school is almost out for the summer. I love that all of my paperwork is caught up. I love the smell of babies' heads. I love my children's feet. I love that I have medical insurance. I love my husband. I love that Mic learned to ride his bike without training wheels when he was only four. I love that I have old pictures from high school to look back on. I love my yellow summer shoes. I love my bed. I love when Mac tells me she likes to hang out with me. I love singing with my husband. I love Saturday mornings. I love it when N rubs my neck for me. I love my cats. I love the furniture my husband is building. I love my life.
I love happy posts :)

An apology to my Mother
Steve and I went to visit my parents this evening. They live about 45 minutes away, and we thought it would be nice to pop over to visit and have dinner together. In the course of conversation, I realize that my Mom has been reading my blog. I forget that Steve has put a link to my blog in his journal, which we are aware that Mom reads on a regular basis. Mom and I were chatting about the muddy incident which led to the 'Shower Time...' post last night. I was telling her that I let my oldest daughter, who is eight, read that post. I talked with her before she read it, about the nicknames mentioned. She was fine... not really a big deal to her at all. So, I'm telling Mom this story and she says, "Well, leave the cuss words [sic] out, then" Oops! Busted!!!
I came home and hopped onto my blog to survey the damage I'd done. Looking through, yes, I have tossed out my share of obscenities, but, my excuse is that close to half of my posts are 'vents' or simply put, me bitching (sorry, Mom) about something. (as an aside... I started thinking that I should really start posting more positive things, rather than complaining all of the time. As I've said... I really *am* a happy person!!) Cussing is usually just a given in 'vents'. I know, I know... the point can be made just as well without the curse words, but, part of the purpose (for me) of blogs is just to be able to 'get it all out' freely and openly.
So...
Dear Mom,
I am sorry that you have been exposed to my potty mouth. I really don't talk like that in my daily dealings with people. I *always* watch what I say around your grandchildren. I strive to raise them to be proper, decent, upstanding citizens. Because we realize that they will be exposed to curse words in other parts of their lives, we try to teach them that swearing is not ok for children to do.
I promise, I will try to keep in mind that you *do* like to stop by my little corner of the 'net from time to time and I promise, that if I do nothing else, I will never use the "f" word in my posts ;) And, you're right, I absolutely can get my point across without the 'dirty' words. I will try to do better, but I'm quite certain that one will slip a time or two ;) And when it does, I also vow to immediately take myself to the bathroom and promptly wash my mouth out (or should it be my fingers off?) with soap :D (Steve will be my witness)
I like that you read my blog. You probably see a side of me that you either never thought was there, or *knew* was there, but you just can't believe I put it out there for all the world to see!!!
I love you, Mom. Give Dad a hug from me :)

Shower time...
If you clicked on this post hoping to see anything remotely sultry or sexy or something intriguing involving nakedness and water, I'm sorry to have to inform you that you will be terribly disappointed (as *if* I'd post anything like that anyway :p)
Tonight, I'm standing on a step ladder looking for something in the top of Mic and N's closet (what it was escapes me... certainly lost it's importance immediately after the following event). The kids were out front, playing in the cul-de-sac with some of the neighbor kids. Bikes out, jump ropes jumping, SpongeBob somewhere in the middle of all of it was sticking out his tongue. All was well, or so we thought...
I hear Mic crying, which I should point out, isn't unusual for Mic. Very early in their lives, I so eleoquently nick-named them 'Bitchy, Whiney and Messy' in decending order (which, actually makes Mic 'Whiney' any way you look at it... poor middle-child!). The nics have stuck, not because they were particularly cute or anything, but simply because they continue to live up to them! Now, mind you, we don't actually *call* the kids by these names, nor do we use them around anyone else but each other and very close adult friends. I couldn't have called it any better, had I tried.
I digress... Mic's crying. I didn't rush to him or anything because a) it's Mic (see above) and b) my ever so attentive husband is in the garage, which is where I hear the cries coming from. Now, had I thought it through, I may have paid more attention to the whine, as while Steve was in the garage, the garage has recently become his workshop and while in said workshop, Steve has, at times, been known to get so wrapped up in what he's doing that it may take a time or three of calling his name (read SHOUTING) to get his attention. (I'll post more on this later, because we actually don't mind him ignoring us... you should see the work he produces!!)
So, I'm thinking Mic skinned his knee again, or N hit him, or Mac looked at him wrong... Steve'll deal with it. Then I hear, again from the garage, "JOOODDDIIIEEEEE!!!!!" This time, it's Steve. "What?!", I shout from the closet. "YOU NEED TO COME HERE!!!!" Great... so I climb down from the step-ladder to go tend to the crying, all the while grumbling to myself, "Why can't he just take care of it? What can be so earth-shattering that I'm needed at this instant?" At which point, my mind goes to, "Crap, if it's something so major that he actually *does* need me, what happened?" Fully expecting to see something tantamount to a compound fracture or a partially severed limb... I walk out to find this...

They found the mud 'pit' left from where the neighbor's camper was parked. I wish I'd had a video of them when I asked who's hair-brained idea *this* was... they all pointed at each other. I suppose it could have been worse!
So, as the title says... it's shower time!!!
Man, I love my kids :)

Nothing at all...
... useless ramblings... hey! that's what I should re-name my blog. Wonder if I can change it? Probably not, now that I've come up with something *way* more creative than 'Jodie's Blog' (that took a lot of thinkin', ya know???)
My neck hurts. Really bad lately. Still waiting to hear from the insurance company if my surgery is going to be approved or not. Hurry up and wait. Seems like the story of my life, sometimes. (I can't remember if I mentioned the upcoming surgery in my 'Pain Management' post or not... if I didn't, I'm quite sure I'll ramble about it in the near future).
N comes up with little cute tidbits every day. Today, she's standing in the hallway (linoleum) making her shoes squeak by rubbing them on the floor. She said, "Look, Mommy, my shoes scream!"
Ok... I obviously have absolutely nothing to post about, so I'm going to go and see if I can change my blog title...

Since we're on the subject...
of vents... shall I continue? (If you answered 'yes' or 'go ahead' or 'sure', or anything in the affirmative, let me offer this disclaimer now... you *will* probably live to regret that!!!)
Where shall I start? So many vents... blah, blah, blah. I feel I must mention here, that overall, I am a very happy person. At this point in my life, physical issues excepted, I could not ask for more wonderful people / things to be a part of *me*. However, we all, happy or not, have a few things we could bitch about at any given moment...
McDonald's - How freakin' hard is it to serve your food 'hot -n- fresh' as you claim? When my husband has to drive *back* to the restaurant because the bag-o'-food I got from you contained cold, yes *cold*... nowhere near *hot*, not *warm*, not even room temperature... C-O-L-D... summin's wrong!!! And no, we don't live across town from the local Mickey D's... in fact, it's about 3 minutes away, 4 if you get caught at the one stoplight between here and there. I must interject here that I just love his ever-so-polite way of handling situations like this. I always tell him that he has a way of telling people exactly where to get off that leaves them thanking him, not ever knowing what happened. So, get with it, Ronald!!! Those heat lamps aren't for fakin' bakin'!!!! (for those of you who don't get that last bit... that's what a couple of my southern gal friends call the act of tanning in a bed / booth)
Driving - for heaven's sake! I'm not really sure why states even make you take a driving test. One of two things are happening after the license seeker pulls back into the DOT parking lot to drop the examiner off after 'passing' the driving test. Either, the examiner couldn't care less about his responsibility to human kind, to ensure that everyone behind the wheel of a vehicle actually knows how to operate and maneuver the automobile, OR the dumbass examinee completely spaces everything he / she just completed in the 4 minutes that was his / her driving test and has decided that the Duke boys actually knew what they were doing while running from Rosco. The word of the day, whenever I'm on the road is OBLIVIOUS. That's exactly what people become when they get behind the wheel of a vehicle. Oblivious to the world around them, and consumed by the thought that they actually *are* the only one on the road. Either that, or he is simply doing us a favor by sharing *his* systems of roads and highways and by golly, we damn sure better show our appreciation by getting out of his way! This translates to defensive driving for those of us who actually give a shit whether we make it to our destination or not, because heaven forbid we should assume that the spot in the road we are occupying at that very moment might actually be ours... don't let that 2000 pound heap of metal intimidate you, Mr. I'd Rather Talk On My Cell Phone While Eating Breakfast And Smoking And Adjusting The Radio And Creating The Agenda For The 8:30 Meeting I'm Late For And Beating My Children Senseless Because It's Their Damn Fault I'm Late In The First Place Since I Have To Take Them To Daycare And I Was In Too Much Of A Hurry To Actually Secure Them Properly So They Are Jumping All Around In The Backseat So I Can't See Out Of My Windows Or Mirrors And I Probably Should Tie My Shoes Before The Light Changes Green (man! I'm discovering several more rants I never even knew about!!! I digress...) And Lines, What Lines? They Don't Apply To Me Since You Had The Nerve To Honk At Me, So I'm Going To Make An Ass Out Of Myself By Hanging My Fist Out Of One Window While Flipping You Off Out Of The Other Window All The While Swerving Into Oncoming Traffic And It's All Your Fault!!!!! whew... I'm a bit tired after all that...
And don't get me started on the stupid lady who, I can only guess, is terrified of the on-ramp to the BA at Garnett. She takes this ramp at, I'm not kidding you, 20 mph! Now, for those of you not familiar with 'the BA', picture a bass-ack-ward Oklahoma's version of The Autobahn (yes, kids, Okies really *do* drive cars!). You just *do* NOT take this ramp at even 50 mph, let alone 20!!! And this lu-lu is ever-so timely, because I've ended up directly behind her on several occasions (do what I do, lady... once, just once, forget to set your alarm, please? Nothing like popping awake an hour late to get your ass in gear!!!). The second time I was tortured with the prospect of my untimely death attempting to merge at a mere 20 mph, when I laid on my horn at her, she actually had the nerve to honk back!!! I mean, does she actually think that we are all just flying around her for our health???? Gimme a break. psst, lady, there *are* other routes... Garnett goes through!!!
Ok, so that was only two, but I'm tuckered out. And right now, I'm going to sit down with my husband and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. He's building a picnic table at the moment and I'm quite enjoying watching him.
I'm sure I'll have more later...

American Idol vent
Ok, so I hate it when people write a post in a blog and make reference to something to be mentioned later. GUILTY!!! I did it in my first (I think) post, when I said I'd vent about American Idol as soon as I caught up on the recorded shows.
I haven't followed through yet, and that is a minor pet peeve of mine. Like anyone would be sitting around on the edge of their seats, anxiously awaiting my post to bitch about a reality tv show, but, still... I'm a girl who likes completion :p
But, now that we've (mostly) caught up with the show, my vent isn't so much a vent anymore. I'm sure that any of you who watch the show can guess that my bitch was about the little-talented Sanjaya. I was going to go off on a rant about how the show was losing talent after talent while at the same time keeping that faux-hawk wearing, smiles too much, just 'ok' singing, I'll give him adorable, Sanjaya around.
So, he's gone... I'm not so angry anymore. I guess I never was very angry... my, what must be missing in my life if I'm getting riled up about that show?
I digress... it's entertaining... I like Melinda, mostly... this season doesn't hold a candle to past seasons' talents. I'll keep watching.
And probably keep bitching!!

I don't usually do this...
Check it out... read about it... and if ya feel like it, sign up. Seems harmless enough. I'm not holding out for the plasma TV, but a few bucks credit at Amazon couldn't hurt :)
Happy searching...
4.29.07 UPDATE It really does work!!! Someone who signed up from my referral won a £10 voucher for Amazon. I'm assuming it's a UK company (wabbadabba). They send an email saying which of my 'friends' won the voucher, hence allowing me to win one. You follow the link in the email to update your account info to include your mailing address. After you update, they then send (I assume via snail mail) the voucher. The only catch (and I use that term loosely) may be that I'll have to use the voucher at Amazon.co.uk . I checked it out and, all seems the same, except the shipping is very slightly higher (since the merchandise apparently ships from the UK). For the same book, shipping from the UK was only a couple of dollars more. Now, I may find out, when I get the voucher, that it *can* be used at the US site. I'll post another update when I find out. Either way... it's essentially free money and I don't know anyone who'd turn that down!!!!
5.11.07 UPDATE I received the gift certificate via email today. Haven't used it yet, I will probably just save it for birthday or Christmas gifts that we need to ship to the UK, anyway... but, again, I'm fairly confident that you actually *can* ship to the US from the UK site. Alternatively, you could always pass them on to me :D Enjoy!!!
